SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a 22-year-old man has died and another man is recovering after they were hit by gunfire on a Syracuse street.

Police officials say officers responded around 7 p.m. Monday to reports of shots fired on Martin Luther King East. When they arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Officers also found a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his hand.

Police have scheduled a news conference for 9 a.m. Tuesday to release more information on the shooting, Syracuse's latest in a spate of gun violence that has left at least four dead and more than a dozen wounded in recent weeks.
