MALONE, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they're investigating a vehicle-pedestrian accident in northern New York that left one person dead and another injured.

Troopers say an SUV being driven by a 27-year-old man from Chateaugay was traveling on state Route 37 in the Franklin County town of Malone around midnight Friday when it hit three people walking along the shoulder of the road.

Police say 29-year-old Thomas Boyea, of Malone, was taken to the University of Vermont Health Network at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, where he was pronounced dead about an hour after the accident.

Thirty-seven-year-old Ryan Avery, of Plattsburgh, was taken to the same hospital for minor injuries. Troopers say the third person, 19-year-old Kaly Bousquet, of Plattsburgh, wasn't injured.

The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
