KINDERHOOK, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say a 1-year-old child has died after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Hudson Valley home.

Troopers and emergency crews were alerted around 5:30 p.m. Friday after a 911 call to Columbia County dispatchers report that a baby had been found unresponsive in a pool in the town of Kinderhook, 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Albany.

The child was taken to Albany Medical Center. Troopers announced on Sunday afternoon that the child died at the hospital.

The baby's name hasn't been released.

Police say they're investigating the child's death as an accidental drowning.
