Utica, NY (WIBX) - City council candidate Larry Tanoury, Jr. announced today that he will be supporting Councilman James Zecca's proposal to create a Vacant Buildings Registry in Utica.

Once identified, Zecca's proposal would either secure, restore, or demolish the buildings.

In a released statement, Tanoury says, "Once identified, the building owner will be notified within 30 days and required to either register the property on the registry or submit a vacant building plan that must meet the approval of the city." He goes on to say, "If the building is to be left vacant, the property owner shall also submit a statement of reasons why it must remain vacant."

Zecca says if elected, he plans to insure the council enacts this proposal as soon as possible.
