16-Year Old Charged After Police Cancelled Amber Alert
A Rochester area teen is now facing formal charges after police discovered that they had been duped into believing she was missing.
A missing persons report was cancelled shortly after it was issued this week after it was revealed that the report was allegedly the result of a hoax by the would-be victim.
Police in Greene, New York had issued an Amber Alert for Cassidy Geffert, a 16-year old who is said to have left a note with blood on it for her parents.
Police initially thought that she had been kidnapped.
Geffert is now facing fourth degree larceny in connection with a stolen handgun.
