16 Year-Old Kirkville Teen Pulls Elderly Man Out Of Sinking Car

A teenager from Kirkville, New York is emerging as a hero after spotting a car in the water and jumping in to rescue its driver.

Without hesitation 16-year old Alex Travis, who was driving by with family members, got out of the car and dove into the lake, pulling out 92-year old Stuart Deland from the driver's window and swimming to the shore.

According to the New York State Police Deland had lost control of his car on and drove into the Bradley Brook Reservoir in the Town of Eaton, New York.

Stuart Deland was hospitalized.  Police say he appears to have been uninjured.

The Eaton Fire Department Dive Team responded and the New York State DEC Spill Response Team inspected the lake for the possibility of hazardous materials leaking from the car and discovered nothing dangerous.
