BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Police in upstate New York have charged a 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend in the slaying of the teen's father.

Alexandria Heath and 19-year-old Romaine Jirdon, both of Buffalo, were arraigned Sunday on second-degree murder charges in the death of 58-year-old Thomas Heath. Both teens have pleaded not guilty and are being held in the Erie County Jail without bail.

Officials say the couple beat and stabbed Heath to death last Friday night in the Buffalo apartment where the girl and Heath lived.

A felony hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

It couldn't immediately be learned from authorities if either of the teens has a lawyer.
