2-1-1 Mid-York is coming.

The United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area has applied for a state grant to operate the non-emergency referral service 2-1-1.

Trained operators can help link callers to the appropriate services when help is needed during times of disaster.

The 2-1-1 system currently serves 93% of New York residents.

Ten counties, including Oneida, Herkimer and Madison, are the lone holdouts.
