ELMIRA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say two juveniles have been charged in the accidental shooting death of a 12-year-old upstate New York boy.

Police in Elmira say the minors, ages 12 and 15, have been charged with possession of a firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of an Elmira boy at a home in the city on July 30. The case will be handled in Chemung County Family Court.

Officials say the youths' names aren't being released because of their ages.

Authorities haven't released the victim's name.

Police said the youth who fired the fatal shot believed that the gun was unloaded. Authorities have deemed the shooting an accident.
