SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Two Syracuse men have been convicted of killing a man by beating him with a baseball bat before shooting him nearly a dozen times.

The Post-Standard reports (http://bit.ly/2q6vNEO ) a jury found 29-year-old Jose Cruz-Rivera and 23-year-old Wigberto Osorio guilty Thursday of charges that included murder, attempted kidnapping and gang assault.

Police say the two men and a third man who testified against his accomplices had attacked Juan Fuentes-Diaz in August 2014 in retaliation for the earlier shooting death of another man.

Authorities say the three men attempted to abduct Fuentes-Diaz and force him into a vehicle. Police said when he attempted to run, he was beaten and shot to death.

Cruz-Rivera and Osorio face up to 25 years to life in prison on the murder charge when they're sentenced next month.
