SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say two teenagers are recovering from gunshot wounds suffered when someone opened fire in a Syracuse neighborhood.

Police say the shooting occurred around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say initial reports said two people with injuries had entered a convenience store on South Avenue in the city's southwest neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found two 16-year-old boys with gunshot wounds. Police say one had been shot in the right leg and the other was wounded in the lower back.

Both were taken to Upstate University Hospital. Police say their injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Officers say the suspects may have been in a vehicle seen leaving the area.
