2013 NCAA Tournament — Miami, Saint Louis, Ole Miss and Ohio State Win To Reach NCAA Tournament
Miami, Saint Louis, Mississippi and Ohio State each won their respective conference tournaments on Sunday. The four teams received automatic bids into next week's NCAA tournament as a result of the victories. Here's a recap of Sunday's conference championships:
Big 10 Conference Championship: (10) Ohio State 50 — (22) Wisconsin 43
DeShaun Thomas scored 17 points, and No. 10 Ohio State beat No. 22 Wisconsin, 50-43, in the Big 10 tournament championship in Chicago on Sunday. As a result of the win, Ohio State (26-7) claimed the conference's automatic bid in the 2013 NCAA tournament. Wisconsin (23-11) was certain to get an at-large invite to the tournament, as well.
Atlantic Coast Conference Championship: (9) Miami 87 — North Carolina 77
Shane Larkin scored 28 points, and No. 9 Miami beat North Carolina, 87-77, to win the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament championship in Greensboro, N.C. on Sunday. The victory gave Miami (27-6) its first ACC tournament title and the conference's automatic bid in the 2013 NCAA tournament. North Carolina (24-10) still has a chance at landing an at-large bid.
Atlantic-10 Conference Championship: (16) Saint Louis 62 — (25) VCU 56
Kwamain Mitchell scored 19 points and tournament MVP Dwayne Evans added 16, as No. 16 Saint Louis beat No. 25 VCU, 62-56, to win the Atlantic 10 tournament championship in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday. It was the first Atlantic 10 tourney title for Saint Louis (27-6), which claimed the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament.
Southeastern Conference Championship: Mississippi 66 — (13) Florida 63
Murphy Holloway scored 23 points and Marshall Henderson added 21, as Mississippi upset No. 13 Florida, 66-63, for the Southeastern Conference tournament championship in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday. Ole Miss (26-8) won its first conference tournament title since 1981 and clinched the conference's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA tournament.
