Over 830 youth gave back 3,070 volunteer hours to the community in 2013 through the Oneida County Children Care Initiative.

County Executive Anthony Picente says the initiative helps youth understand the benefits of community and volunteer service.

The progam was started in 2009 by the County Youth Bureau.

Volunteers worked with eight agencies including the Boys and Girls Club of the Mohawk Valley, Upstate Cerebral Palsy, the Neighborhood Center and the Thea Bowman House.
