Nearly 840 people attended this years annual Mayor's Gala at the Radisson Hotel in Utica on April 5.

Today Mayor Palmieri and his wife Susan along with the YWCA of the Mohawk Valley are announcing the Gala raised over $52,000.

The YWCA will receive a profit of $37,000 that will be used to support the agency's domestic and sexual violence services.

"I want to thank everyone who came out and supported this great cause," Mayor Palmieri said. "We are such a warm and giving community, and I am pleased these funds will enable the YWCA to continue to provide vitally important services."

"It gave us a unique opportunity to raise awareness and generate funding for our critical services," YWCA Executive Director Natalie Brown said. "It was such a pleasure working with the mayor, Sue and the entire planning committee. The event was spectacular and we are extremely grateful."
