Senator Joseph Griffo hosted the first in his three part education town hall series tonight.

Griffo is hosting the series in an effort to focus on challenges facing school districts and colleges in the Mohawk Valley.

Some issues discussed at the meeting were how state aid works for schools and what common core is and what it can do for the future of education in New York State.
Senator John Flanagan also took some time to address what Gap Elimination Adjustment is and how it affects students and parents in the state.

The next meeting will take place next week in Whitesboro where State Education Commissioner John King will be the featured guest.
