He allegedly lead police on a chase but was ultimately caught.

23-Year old Lavell Dillard of Blandina Street was taken into custody on Monday, July 14, 2014.  Utica Police responded to the 400 block of Blandina after receiving a report that two men with handguns were threatening residents.

When they arrived at the scene at approximately 1:30pm police say one man drove away in a white vehicle.  Officers tried, unsuccessfully, to stop the car and a pursuit began.

During the chase police say the man threw a bag out of the vehicle.  While some officers continued to pursue the suspect others were able to stop and retrieve the bag.

Police say the suspect then got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot.  Police caught up with and arrested Dillard.  In a written release from Utica Police they say a loaded .45 caliber revolver was inside the bag.

Dillard is now being charged with thirty-three traffic summonses in addition to felonious criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, which is a misdemeanor.

The second suspect has not yet been identified.
