MANLIUS, N.Y. (AP) — Multi-million-dollar improvements to a popular New York state park have been completed.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the makeover at Green Lakes State Park near Syracuse includes a new year-round environmental education center. The Democrat says the $6 million project is part of the state's ongoing initiative to improve the state's aging system of more than 200 state parks and historic sites.

Green Lakes, in the town of Manlius, is central New York's most-visited state park, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. The park offers camping, hiking, biking and golfing.

The park's 1940s boat house has been modernized to house events and provide education programming. The waterfront improvements also include a lakefront boardwalk and canoe-kayak landing, a new boat rental booth and storage racks, and upgraded electrical systems.
