CATTARAUGUS INDIAN RESERVATION, N.Y. (AP) — Police are investigating a pickup truck crash in western New York that sent nine people to the hospital over the weekend.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says the truck was traveling on a road on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation on the borders with Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties when it veered into a tree around 7:45 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies say at least four passengers were in the truck's cab, while the others were in the vehicle's bed and were ejected.

Several helicopters were used to transport some of the injured to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, where police say two people are in critical condition Monday.

Deputies say the victims range in age from older teenagers to adults in their mid-20s. Police remained on the scene until Sunday evening.

Charges are pending against the driver.
