ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Nine new Republican members of the Democrat-controlled New York state Assembly will be officially sworn in during a ceremony being held in downtown Albany.

Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, of Canandaigua, says the ceremony will be held Tuesday afternoon in Hearing Room B in the Legislative Office Building, across from the State Capitol.

Taking their oath of office are: Marjorie Byrnes, of Caledonia; Joe DeStefano, of Medford; Michael LiPetri, Massapequa; Brian Manktelow, of Lyons; Michael Reilly, of South Shore; John Salka, of Brookfield; Colin Schmitt, New Windsor; Robert Smullen, of Meco, and Mark Walczyk, of Watertown.

The state Legislature formally opens its 2019 session on Wednesday.
