NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Police in a Hudson Valley city say they're investigating a hit-and-run accident that has claimed the life of a 90-year-old man.

Officials in the city of Newburgh say officers responded around 7:15 a.m. Sunday to a report of an injured pedestrian in a roadway.

When officers arrived they found an elderly man who had been injured from an apparent accident involving a motor vehicle. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have identified the victim as Fred Woolsey of Newburgh.

Officials say the driver of the vehicle that hit him left the scene.

Anyone with any information on the accident are being asked to contact Newburgh police.
