The Mohawk Valley could see $12.4 million out of what the New York State Department of Transportation is requesting from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding. Governor Paterson announced the DOT has submitted applications for nearly $565 million to go toward high-speed rail projects across the State. $12.4 million is requested to relieve congestion in the Mohawk Valley by adding and improving track infrastructure and signals between Amsterdam and Rome. "Making high-speed rail a reality in Upstate New York will increase jobs, improve passenger rail service and allow business to operate more effectively and efficiently across the State," said Congressman Michael Arcuri. "I am proud to be a part of the broad group of elected officials and business and community leaders who have joined together to fight for high-speed rail."
