Report for the Week of October 5, 2009

 

ONEIDA COUNTY

 

City of Rome:

·        Construction work on Route 46 (Black River Blvd) between East Dominick Street and Chestnut Street. Motorists will encounter lane shifts, lane closures and intermittent, flagger-controlled work zones throughout the project. Stanwix and Embargo Streets, at the Route 46 intersection, remain closed. Milling and paving operations are progressing; expect rough road surface, raised manholes and lane closures 24/7.

 

·        Route 49 at the railroad crossing. Motorists may encounter lane or shoulder closures eastbound or westbound and minor delays.

 

·        East Dominick Street (Route 365) intermittent lane closures between King Pin Bowling and Davidson’s Chevrolet controlled by flaggers.

 

City of Utica:

·        Construction work continues on Route 5S between Broad and Turner Streets. Motorists will encounter a lane closure eastbound and/or westbound and a speed limit reduction

to 45 mph when workers are present on the job. Minor delays are expected due to additional lane closures on Broad Street at the intersection of Route 5S.

 

·        The Route 5S westbound exit to Culver Ave will be closed Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, for guiderail installation. Minor traffic delays and lane shifts can be expected at the Culver Ave, Dwyer Ave and Turner Street exit and entrance ramps.

 

·        Milling and paving operations on Bleecker Street between Culver and Kossuth, weather permitting. Mainline traffic will be detoured around the work zone. Use alternate routes; expect delays.

 

City of Utica/Town of Marcy: Pavement and barrier repair on Route 49 between Route 12 and Route 291. Motorists will encounter lane closures and a reduced speed limit to 45 mph. Expect minor traffic delays.

 

Village of Barneveld: Route 365 over Steuben Creek bridge deck repairs, between Steuben Valley Road and Fish Hatchery Road. One-way alternating traffic will be controlled by a temporary traffic signal 24/7. Minor delays.

 

Village of Oneida Castle: Route 365 highway reconstruction between Route 5 and Route 365A. Paving is expected to begin during the week of October 5, weather permitting. Minor traffic delays.

 

Town of New Hartford: Route 5 at Woods Highway utility pole relocation and road widening. Minor traffic delays.

 

Towns of Madison, Marshall and Kirkland: Paving on Route 12B between Route 20 and Route 233, (with the exception of Oriskany Falls) weather permitting. Motorists will encounter one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers. Delays may be encountered.

 

Towns of Marcy, Deerfield and Trenton: Culvert repairs on Route 12 between Route 8 and Putnam Road. Daytime lane closures northbound; lane closures 24/7 southbound. Speed limit is reduced to 45 mph in the work zones. Minor traffic delays.

 

Town of Western: Route 46 Bridge replacement over Wells Creek. Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures controlled by flaggers. Minor delays.

 

Town of Whitestown: Single lane closures on Route 69 in Whitesboro, from Clinton Street to Wood Road due to traffic signal work. Minor delays.

 

Town of Vernon: Route 31 Bridge over Sconondoa Creek will be closed from September 8 until late October. Signs direct motorists to use Routes 5 and 26 as a detour route.

 

Town of Verona: Route 365 culvert replacement over Mud Creek between Blackmans Corners Road and Greenway New London Road. Motorists will encounter a short-term lane shift on Route 365. Reconstruction work on Route 365 between Route 26 South and Patrick Road. Two-lane traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound and westbound and a speed limit reduction to 45 mph in the work zone. Reconstruction and widening on Route 31 between the Thruway Bridge and Eastwood Drive. Flaggers will control one-way alternating traffic during daytime hours. Minor traffic delays may be encountered.

 

HERKIMER COUNTY

 

City of Little Falls:

·        Bridge deck rehabilitation on Route 169 over CSX and Erie Canal (Wind Bridge). Motorists will encounter a northbound shoulder and partial lane closure. Intermittent delays may be encountered.

 

·        The west ramp connecting the Route 167 bridge and West Mill Street remains closed. Detour signs direct motorists to the east ramp.

 

Towns of Newport and Fairfield: Route 28 pavement rehabilitation between Poland and Middleville, weather permitting. Alternating one-way traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Minor delays.

 

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

 

Hamlet of Sprakers: Route 5S Bridge replacement over Flat Creek. Motorists will encounter a reduced speed limit to 35 mph. Please drive with caution through the work zone. Please note: Spraker Hill Road at the Route 5S intersection will be closed during the bridge replacement project. Local traffic can access Spraker Hill Road via Park Street.

 

FULTON/MONTGOMERY COUNTY

 

Towns of Amsterdam and Perth: Reconstruction and widening of Route 30 from Sunset Road in the City of Amsterdam to Voorhees Road. Motorists will encounter multiple work zones and lane shifts as well as lane reductions from 2 lanes to 1 lane northbound and southbound. Motorists should drive with caution and expect delays as work will be progressing throughout the length of this contract.

 

FULTON COUNTY

 

Towns of Mayfield and Broadalbin: Paving on Route 29 between Route 30, Vail Mills and Saratoga County Line, weather permitting. Motorists will encounter one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers. Delays may be encountered.

 

 

HAMILTON COUNTY

 

Hamlet of Blue Mountain Lake: Route 28 between Durant Road and the Route 30 intersection with Route 28. Lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers, due to paving, sign installation and striping, weather permitting. Minor delays.

 

Hamlet of Wells: Route 30 over Sacandaga River bridge replacement. Motorists may encounter a northbound lane closure controlled by flaggers. Minor delays.
