Senator Joseph Griffo is calling for further overhaul of New York's political power struggle by introducing new legislation. Griffo wants a limit on a Governor's time in office to just one six-year term. Griffo says he is convinced that changing New York's law to require a Governor to serve only one term would help the state. He says instead of the Governor wasting time during election season, they can focus on getting the job done the right way from the time he or she enters office. The key elements of Griffo's Reform Agenda include a state constitutional convention that can fix the structural flaws in the Legislature and in the rules that govern vacancies for elected positions and create a mechanism for recall. Also, he wants a process put into place to fill the office of lieutenant governor giving the voice to the people and to create a special election for statewide offices of comptroller and attorney general when they become vacant.
