A plan to charge Oneida County residents a $5 per year motor vehicle use fee has been approved. The Board of Legislators gave approval to the measure Wednesday. The next time you renew your vehicle registration, you'll pay an extra $10 per vehicle, which will cover you for two years. The fee is double for commercial vehciles. Picente says all of the projected $1.2 million dollars raised will go directly toward plowing, salting, sanding and repairing county roads.

Also, the Board voted against overriding Picente's veto of $50,000 in reimbursement funding for Vernon and Verona. The towns sought the funding to cover some legal expenses incurred in the ongoing legal battles against the Oneida Indian Nation.
