Bridgewater Woman Accused of Faking Cancer for Money
Bridgewater Woman Accused of Faking Cancer for Money

A Bridgewater woman is accused of soliciting donations for medical bills to treat her brain tumor; turns out she doesn’t even have cancer. The Oneida County Sheriff’s office says 33-year-old Heather Barrett faked the deadly disease and created and distributed donation cans to area business to raise money for other reasons. So far deputies have collected seven of the donation cans from businesses in Bridgewater, Waterville, Madison and West Winfield. Deputies are asking people who have donated to Barrett’s cause to please contact them and if anyone has one of the donation cans in their business to call the sheriff’s office at 841-8520.
