Did you or someone you know pay a mail order company $60 for a copy of their deed? Herkimer county clerk Sylvia Rowan says this practice is ripping people off. Rowan says it has been brought to her attention that a company is sending out a mailing soliciting business by offering copies of property deeds for a payment of 59-dollars and 50-cents. Rowan says the Herkimer County deeds are a matter of public record and are available for copy for around $5. The clerkâs office is located at 109 Mary Street in Herkimer. |
