Health and Fitness Expo Info
Health and Fitness Expo Info

The Clark Athletic Center on the Utica College campus will begin to pulsate Friday in advance of America's Greates Heart Run and Walk. The Health and Fitness Expo will be happening from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. inside the gymnasium featuring plenty of vendors and heart healthy information.

A staple of the event is the Cardiac Risk Assessment Booth, providing free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose readings.

WIBX will be broadcasting live from the event from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the 39th Annual WIBX Slocum Dickson Heart Radiothon.

You can donate Friday and Saturday by calling 624-WIBX.

Learn CPR

Want to learn CPR?

Hannaford Supermarkets is sponsoring a CPR Anytime training course at Friday's Expo. Training session will take place at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.

Each session lasts about 22 minutes.

The first 50 people who participate will take home a CPR Anytime kit to take home with them. The kits include: a personal inflatable CPR manikin, CPR Skills Practice DVD and an American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR booklet.

Cell Phone Drop

If you're stopping by the health and fitness expo--bring your old, unwanted or unusable cell phones.

The Central New York Veteran's Outreach Center will have a booth at the expo, and they'll be collecting the old phones, regardless of whether they work. "We ship them to a company that actually pays us for them. They're dismantled and all parts are used to either refurbish or they get recycled. So it's not only good for us, it's good for the enviornment because none of the phones end up in a landfill," said Vincent Scalise, executive director of the Outreach Center. All funds raised will go directly to Veteran Services, he said.
