Water Level Low at Hinckley Reservoir
Water Level Low at Hinckley Reservoir

The level of the Hinckley Reservoir is down several feet below normal for this time of year according to an advisory issued by the Mohawk Valley Water Authority. The Water Authority has been in contact with the Canal Corporation, the State and County Health Departments and several other agenices to determine what steps need to be taken to protect the area's drinking water supply. The reservoir's low level is due in part to a below average mid-January thaw resulting in lower run-off from snow melt, but it is believed there is a more than adequate snow pack remaining on the ground to completely refill the reservoir. The state's Emergengency Management office has been consulted and more information ahould be available after a planned conference today.
