DioGuardi: New York, Silicon Valley 2.0?
DioGuardi: New York, Silicon Valley 2.0?

US Senate candidate Joe DioGuardi shared his vision to bring jobs to New York at Fiber Instrument Sales in Oriskany, Monday.

DioGuardi, a former Westchester County Congressman, says the state needs to offer incentives to the world's most innovative minds, to bring them to the Empire State.

"It costs a lot of money to build roads, immediately, correct the infrastructure, immediately. But, it wouldn't cost a lot of money to induce PhD's and their families to move to New York State if we had some incentives." DioGuardi mentioned housing and education subsidies as examples. "We could be a new-age Silicon Valley with industries like solar and fiber optics, and who knows how many others."

He drew comparison's to the Weizmann Institute of Science in Isreal, a mutli-disciplinary research center.

DioGuardi is endorsed by the Conserative Party and is in a three-way Republican primary this fall, against Bruce Blakeman and David Malpass. Incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand is seeking re-election.
