The American Red Cross is urging all residents to remember “Snowvember 2014”, when parts of Western New York were buried in as much as eight feet of snow on November 18.

The Red Cross is offering free Citizen Preparedness Corps training to help residents prepare for emergencies, respond accordingly and recover quickly.

Last year the Red Cross supported or operated 19 shelters in the affected area and served over 66-hundred meals and snacks.  Close to 4-thousand relief items like cleanup and personal items were distributed.

The free Citizen Preparedness Corps training presentation is entitled Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes and is a one-hour interactive program presented by a specially trained Red Cross volunteer.

To schedule a presentation at a school, business or other organization, contact James Segerson at (585) 241-4405 or at james.segerson@redcross.org.

A 15 minute online version of the training is also available at http://prepare.ny.gov/online-citizen-preparedness-training.
