AAA is predicting more than 103 million people will travel more than 50 miles from home during the year-end holiday season.

The vast majority of those travelers will be driving.

Ed Welsh of AAA Central New York says that's a record.

He says the biggest reason for the increase is that both the Christmas and New Year's holidays fall on the weekend.

Welsh says those traveling by car will be paying about 16 cents more for a gallon of gas than they were at this time last year.

The average price in the Utica-Rome area is $2.41 a gallon, which is up 8 cents over the past month.
