ACS To Lay Off 149 Employees

The City of Utica is losing another 149 jobs after Affiliated Computer Services filed a layoff notice with the state Department of Labor.

ACS handles student and guaranteed loan servicing for the Department of Education, but is losing a student loan contract.

The company will begin laying off employees on July 19, and will be done by August 1st.

The Bleecker Street company also laid off employees in March 2010, after being acquired earlier in the year by current owner, Xerox.
