ROME, N.Y. (AP) — Military cargo planes will be flying around Griffiss International Airport in central New York this week.

The U.S. Air Force will be conducting training flights of C-17 cargo planes Monday through Thursday, almost all of it in the mornings.

Local officials say the massive planes will be taking different approaches to the airport in Rome. And they apologize for any inconvenience nearby residents might experience due to the increased flight activity.

UPDATED 3:21 -  The U.S Air Force training flights that were set to take place this week at Griffiss International Airport in Rome have been canceled due to the winter storm that's expected to hit the area.

C-17 cargo planes were scheduled to conduct military training missions at various times throughout the day and night today through Thursday.

The Oneida County Executive's Office says the operations will take place at a different location instead.
