Albany, NY - Mayor Gerald "Jerry" Jennings of Albany is asking bars in the capitol to voluntarily close earlier.  According to the reports, Mayor Jennings is concerned about the increase in police calls due to fights and drunken behavior. He is asking bar owners to voluntarily close down at 2:00 AM instead of 4:00 AM. Jennings is also suggesting that bar owners collaborate to find a solution that won't allow one bar to benefit over others closing 2 hours earlier. The state and county laws currently allow bars to remain open until 4:00 in the morning and Jennings said the call to close earlier would be on a voluntary basis. However, business owners  say the early closure would hurt profits.
