Alleged Drunk Driver Causes Power Outage

A Rome man is facing a DWI charge after crashing into a power pole on Route 46-Rome New London Road.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, 45-year old Kirk Carter was able to crawl out of the window of his SUV and fled on foot.

He was later taken into custody.

National Grid crews spent several hours restoring power to several residents.
