Oriskany, NY (WIBX) - An altercation between inmates at the Oneida County Correctional Facility landed one man in the hospital. According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the victim, 23-year-old Angus Steel of Jefferson County, was attempting to intervene to stop another inmate from being harassed by 36-year-old Jayson Pulluaim, who is also serving time at the facility.

Officials say Pulluaim then redirected his anger toward the victim, punching him in the face multiple times. Steel suffered facial lacerations and an orbital fracture. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Pulluaim was charged with Assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and will appear in Whitestown Court at a future date.
