‘American Hustle’ – A Real Story or Fiction?

The Oscar Nominated movie 'American Hustle' leads you to believe that small parts of the movie are based on a true story; but, the facts tell a completely different story.

This movie is clearly based on the FBI undercover sting operation that led to the ABSCAM scandal in the late 1970's that took down 7 members of Congress including a U.S. Senator.

It's true, much of the storyline featured entertaining additions; but, the premise is clearly based on one of America's most embarrassing political moments.
