The 44th America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk Weekend is scheduled for Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Utica College.

Board members, sponsors and Red Cap Ambassadors held a kick-off event Thursday night to announce this year's fundraising goal of $1,108,500.

Red Cap Ambassador Bonnie Hubbell had a stroke last year said the Heart Run Weekend is important because it educates people on the risks and symptoms of heart disease and stroke.

"I didn't know anything about it when I had the stroke," Hubbell said. "And as a result I delayed treatment."

Hubbell says although she recovered well, she wants others to know the symptoms of stroke so they don't delay treatment as well.
