Answers are wanted after a 93-year old woman was shot and killed at her home by a police officer in Texas.

A candlelight vigil was held last night in honor of Pearlie Golden in her hometown.

Golden was killed on Tuesday night during a confrontation with police at her home on Karney Street, located in Hearne, Texas.

Authorities are still investigating but what is known is that police responded to a 911 call about a woman waving a gun outside of a home on May 6, 2014.  In a written statement from the Robertson County Sheriff's Office, police who arrived on scene asked Golden to put down her weapon.  Officer Stephen Stem fired his weapon, shooting Golden.

She was brought to Saint Joseph's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officer Stem has been placed on administrative leave pending further inquiry.
