There are some actors, like Idris Elba, who are weary of starring in big-budget superhero movies (“torture” was the specific word he used to describe the process). Anthony Mackie is not one of those actors. In fact, he couldn’t be more excited about his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only is he completely jacked up about starring in ‘Captain America 3’, he wants to star in every Marvel sequel. “Me and Groot can boogie!”

Mackie is making the rounds promoting ‘Black and White’ (which contains no superheroes at all, but does star Kevin Costner), and got to talking ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and he has a lot of fancy words for how great it’s going to be. First, he tells Collider:

Let’s just say it’s a wing-ding-doozy of a time...It’s by far one of the most stupendous rides Marvel has put together.

A “wing-ding doozy of a time”! We can only hope that Disney uses that quote in the TV commercials. He also told iamROGUE that the movie is “mind-blowing” and “epic”, so yeah, he’s pretty excited. How excited? He’s also sending Kevin Feige daily e-mails.

I want my bird, man. I want my bird!...I’ve been emailing with people over at Marvel. I’ve putting it out there in the ethos that I’m going to have a new and improved costume and come out all flashy in spandex. That’s my whole thing. I’ve just been saying it, hoping that they’ll read it and say, ‘Alright, we have to give Anthony a new costume.’ Please, dress me up in spandex!

“Please, dress me up in spandex!” is not something you hear a lot of grown men shout, but here we are. And, Mackie has not limited his e-mails to Marvel HQ to just ‘Captain America’ related subjects. He’s also looking to get cast in another Marvel movie. Which Marvel movie? ALL THE MARVEL MOVIES.

They’re doing reshoots and that’s why I’m letting them know I’m available. So whatever weekend they want me there, I’ll fly myself out and shoot whatever scene they want me in. I heard today in one of the interviews that someone thought I was in ‘Ant-Man’. I hope so! I hope I’m in ‘Ant-Man’. I hope I’m in ‘Hulk 3’, I hope I’m in ‘Thor 3’, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’!

And, jeez, with that kind of enthusiasm and excitement, we hope he is too.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ opens in theaters on May 6, 2016.
