Utica, NY (WIBX) - The fight to keep the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center open continues. Concerned residents, employees and former patients meeting last night to hand-in nearly 3,000 signatures, urging Governor Cuomo to reverse a plan that will close the psychiatric center,  laying off nearly 150.

Utica Councilman-at-Large Jim Zecca says the petitions will not be dropped in the mail. "These are going to be hand delivered", said Zecca. According to the second term councilman, the petitions are due to be delivered in the near future. Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center is scheduled to close this August.
