The manufacturer of some of the most popular smartphones in the world may be launching its next upgrade earlier than expected.

AppleInsider quotes a source as saying that Apple will debut the iPhone 7 earlier than expected in 2016.

In addition some are also speculating that Apple is planning to unveil a four-inch model alonside the iPhone 7.  The smaller version was discarded by the company after the debut of the 5S.  MetroSource reports than production on the four-inch phones may begin next year.

According to the AppleInsider, "Launching the 'iPhone 7' in an earlier window of 2016 would...help avoid a potential year-over-year decrease in sales as the iPhone 6s product cycle winds down."

Sources have said as well that the new phone will have an A9 processor, but not the 3D Touch available with the iPhone 6S.
