Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez was helped off the field while attempting bat in the bottom of the fifth innings. Chavez appeared dazed. It was reported during the YES Network broadcast that Chavez may have suffered whiplash diving for a ground ball down the line in the top half of the inning.
