New York State Police say they have made an arrest in connection with a bullet hitting a Harpursville Central School bus March 16, 2016.

Investigators say 22-year-old Lucas Alapeck had been target shooting with another person on their private land on Chaffee Street when a round traveled about a third of a mile hit the bus on Colesville Road.

The bullet did not penetrate the outside and no one was hurt.

The driver got the students in the late run home safely.

A search of Alapeck’s home found he possessed a large capacity ammunition feeding device that could hold 30 rounds of .223 ammunition.

The device was seized by authorities.

Alapeck is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon.

He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to reappear in Colesville Town Court at a later date.
