SALINA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say they've charged a parolee with killing a 25-year-old man whose body was found inside his vehicle at a central New York apartment complex.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Jacob Stanton, of Geddes, was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Jacob Giarrusso, of Liverpool.

Investigators say Giarrusso was reported missing by his family on Nov. 18. Detectives discovered his body two days later in his vehicle after a resident of an apartment complex in the town of Salina reported the vehicle on the property.

Police say Stanton, who was on parole for a robbery, stabbed Giarrusso to death, then drove to the complex and left his body in the vehicle.

Stanton is being held in jail. It couldn't be learned from authorities if he has a lawyer.
