Arrest Made In Fatal Shooting Of Man In Western New York
COLLINS, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they've charged a western New York man with fatally shooting another man near an Indian reservation.
Troopers say they responded around 1 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting in the Erie County town of Collins, adjacent to the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation 20 miles south of Buffalo.
Police say 31-year-old Dustin Sharp of nearby Hamburg was found shot at the scene and died from his injuries.
Troopers say they arrested 22-year-old Daryl Bland, of Buffalo, later Wednesday and charged him with second-degree murder. He's being held in the county jail. It couldn't be learned if he has a lawyer.
Police haven't released a possible motive for the shooting.
Seneca Nation of Indians officials say the tribe's police force helped capture Bland.
