The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says a Westmoreland Middle School student has been arrested in connection with a recent threat against the school.

A note containing a concerning message was found in a restroom at the school on March 6th.

The 11-year old was charged with falsely reporting an incident and criminal nuisance.

Sheriff Rob Maciol says during their investigation, it was discovered that the juvenile's reasoning for writing the note was partly due to news reports regarding several other area school threats.

The case will be sent to Oneida County Juvenile Probation for further action.
