Utica Police have made an arrest related to the stabbing in West Utica in the area of Lenox Ave. at Warren St. on Tuesday. At 8:30 a.m. patrol units arrived on the scene to take statements, and gather information. The suspect is Samson C. Gorton. He and the victim, a 23-year-old male, are roommates. The incident occurred after a verbal altercation, and Gorton allegedly stabbed the victim once in the abdomen.

The man who was stabbed was transported was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries.  He is still in serious condition at this time. Gorton was transported to headquarters, and has been charged with Assault in the 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. Both charges are felonies.
