No charges will be filed and the official cause of death has been ruled accidental drowning in the death of twenty-three month old Ashi Kah.

In a written release New Hartford Police say, "Ashi Kah escaped the supervision of her mother for only a minute when she made her way into the Sauquoit Creek and was tragically swept away by a strong current."

The toddler had wandered away from her family and friends who started looking for her immediately.  The water in the creek was moving at an "extremely fast pace" because of "excessive rain."

Once located she was pulled from the water and her mother began emergency techniques to save her.  When emergency crews arrived they were able to get a faint pulse.  The baby was taken to Saint Elizabeth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
