New York State Assembly KO’s Mixed Martial Arts Bill

Albany, NY (WIBX) - Assembly Democrats have delivered a knockout blow to a bill that would legalize mixed martial arts in New York State.

The Democratic majority has decided not to advance a bill that would allow for UFC and other MMA events to be held in the New York.

The move comes after the state Senate has passed measures legalizing the sport in New York three times with bipartisan support

They most recently passed the bill last month.

UFC officials call the decision to not advance the bill "un-American."
